Used to go quite regular on a Friday or Saturday, for karaoke and disco. Great atmosphere and party audience. It's the only thing that kept the place going at the weekends. But now they've got rid of the outstanding DJ. Probably going to use a family member or friend. I will not be going anymore.

Just to say that I have been going in the Big Tree for many years. It's a great pub with nice atmosphere, you are welcomed with a smile from the landlady, who is always pleasant. We look forward on most Fridays, taking my son in for a large burger. Good pub, nice people. Not many pubs left like this. Lots of sports channels and TVs for different channels to cater for everyone. Mark.

It has been many years since I visited this pub and I can safely say will not be visiting again.

I recently went there with some friends on a night out. We sat at a table and we're having quite a good time until a group of known local men that frequent the pub regularly stared talking to us. Without going into too much of what happened, one of the individuals was hanging around and sat with my friend. I went to the toilet and when I came back he moved away. I then went to the bar to get drinks. When I came back my friend had passed out on the table. I was unable to do anything with her.

At this point the landlady came over and asked what the situation was. I explained I had no idea, that one minute she was OK, and then when I came back she was like that. The landlady was very rude, asking me how much she had drunk and why I had let her get in that state. I told her we had drunk the same and I was OK. At this point I noticed the locals had left.

The landlady told me I had to get my friend outside, which was physically impossible. Eventually we got her outside with help. The landlady followed me out and continued to quiz me in an abusive manner as to why she was in that state, and basically accusing me of causing her to be in danger.

The taxi arrived and she took over, explaining to the taxi driver about the state she was in ect... I can honestly say her customer service and people skills had a lot to be desired. I was totally disgusted by the way I was spoken to. Perhaps this is because she is used to dealing with weekly fights, arguments, and difficult situations, and hasn't the skill in dealing with a genuine problem.

My reason for this post is that after having to send for an ambulance to my friend who was extremely poorly, it came to light that her drink had more than likely been spiked. She was extremely poorly for a good few days. I am very angry that the landlady suggested that I had some input as to why my friend was in that state, when perhaps she would have been better looking a little closer to home, and perhaps some people skills wouldn't go amiss.

Can safely say I will not be visiting again.

Went in here for a quiet drink Saturday night after going to Kashmiri Aroma. Seemed a nice place until some Neanderthal decided to throw beer mats at myself and my partner for no apparent reason. Bouncers did nothing about it at all. Will not be entering this particular establishment again.

I've visited this place on and off for the last few years, as I live nearby. It is currently being refurbished, so hopefully it will appear better than it did.

It's a shame it's not a better place to go, the landlady is wonderful. She's helpful and friendly, and doesn't let the idiots who congregate there en mass every weekend get out of control. This, however, is the problem. The clientele are the roughest lot from around and, as a pub, it gets a fair share a Police visits. Although in the last 12 months this has got much better, by which I mean less.

The drink selection is below par and if you want hand-pulled, go somewhere else because there isn't any.

It's a great old building, in a good place, spoiled by the Batemoor, Low Edges, Jordanthorpe residents who use it as a landing point before heading down the Wetherspoon's.

I love this pub, it's great! I go in almost every Saturday night an never fail to enjoy myself. The landlady is fantastic and so are all the other bar staff. Keep up the good work!

The Big Tree is a great place with a great atmosphere, despite all the horror stories that it had been renowned for. I have attended there on the odd occasion since I was younger and have always felt welcome by all the staff employed there.

My friends and I mostly took pleasure in dining there due to the really cheap menu and high standard of cuisine. It also has a pool table and regularly screens the Premiership football matches of the weekend, or if you're an avid Blades fan - Sheffield United matches (usually drawing in the Sheffield United fans of the surrounding area).

All in all it is great value for money and I would recommend paying it a visit.
