News for Florist:
A popular Sheffield pub is set to reopen months after closing, following a takeover by new management.
The Florist, on Walkley Road in Walkley, shut its doors in August. It is now being taken on by Bala Kata, an experienced pub operator who has previously run venues in Manchester.
Mr Kata said the Florist will be the first pub he has run in Sheffield. Speaking to The Star newspaper, he explained that the venue has been closed for around three months and is expected to reopen in the next couple of weeks. He added that he expects the pub to be serving customers again before Christmas.
He said he does not plan to make major changes to the pub. Instead, the focus will be on redecorating to freshen up the appearance of the venue.
Mr Kata said he is looking forward to reopening the Florist and welcoming people back through the doors.
The reopening is the latest positive news for pubs in the area. Just days earlier, the Walkley Cottage, which is located close to the Florist, also announced that it would be reopening.
The return of both venues marks a boost for Walkley's local pub scene after a period of closures.
