The Blake Hotel, one of Sheffield's most recognisable pubs, has had its future confirmed by owners Trust Inns following local speculation about its status. Concern arose among regulars after a board appeared outside the building advertising for operators to run the venue, which sits near Walkley.
The pub is widely known across the city for its appearance in the 1997 film The Full Monty, where it was seen in the background of scenes filmed close to Ruskin Park. Alongside its cinematic history, the venue sits at the top of Blake Street, officially designated by Ordnance Survey as the steepest street in Sheffield, and was recently named one of CAMRA's pubs of the year for 2026.
Addressing the situation directly, pub company Trust Inns explained that the site is not facing closure. Instead, the current tenancy agreement is coming to an end, and the existing tenants have chosen not to renew their contract for another term. In response, the company has started actively searching for a replacement operator to take over the day-to-day running of the business.
Trust Inns stated that the property is currently being marketed as a tenancy opportunity on their website. The company emphasised that there are no plans to shut the doors, expressing a firm commitment to keeping the venue open and maintaining its place within the neighbourhood. They noted that they are seeking interested parties and would welcome enquiries from potential operators who want to lead the business into its next chapter. To support the transition, Trust Inns also confirmed that existing staff members will be protected in line with standard employment rules. The owners noted that retaining current workers will help ensure continuity for both the pub's team and the regular customers who drink there.
