The Forty Foot was for many years a brill pub. Yes it went downhill a bit but I am pleased to say Sharron is working towards bringing it back to a community pub.

We went in great turn on - Lorna Kennedy. Never laughed and enjoyed so much for ages. Good beer, friendly staff, nice and clean. Children allowed in up to about 8pm. They do children's activities Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the school holidays. Tea etc... refreshments are available if you don't fancy a pint. The Prince and Princess day held bank holiday bouncy castle etc... enjoyed by ALL age groups. Good turn on this Friday, we will be there.

Nobody ever in, staff ignorant. Stood five minutes at the bar and the landlady just stands gassing. Beer too expensive for what it is, a grotty estate pub.

Had a reputation, but under new management and I can say that it's a great, friendly pub with free pool on Wednesdays and varied events and a nice pint.

News for Forty Foot:

  • The Forty Foot pub in Sheffield, a well-known establishment popular among Sheffield Wednesday fans, has been closed since Boxing Day. The owners, Stonegate, have recently issued a statement addressing the future of the pub.

Situated at the junction of Wordsworth Avenue and Donovan Road, near Southey Green, the pub has been visibly closed with boarded-up windows and doors since the end of 2023. Security company notices are prominently displayed on the site.

Stonegate, the pub company that owns Forty Foot, has confirmed its commitment to reopening the venue as a pub in the near future. The company cited a change in management as the reason for the temporary closure and outlined its plans to resume operations within the next six to eight weeks.

In an official statement, Stonegate stated, "The Forty Foot pub in Sheffield is currently closed. Once the management changeover is complete, the pub is aiming to be back up and running to welcome the local community as usual in the next six to eight weeks."

The previous manager of the Forty Foot pub, in a post on the venue's Facebook page, mentioned their decision to move on from the establishment to spend more time with family. They expressed gratitude for the incredible experiences and interactions with customers during their tenure.

Residents in the vicinity of the Forty Foot pub have noted that the closure leaves them with limited nearby options, as the only other pubs are a 10-minute walk away.
