Pub operator Stonegate has confirmed the sudden closure of The Hyde Park in Dronfield, marking the second venue in the wider Sheffield area shut down by the company in a single day.
Located on Hill Top Road in Dronfield, between Sheffield and Chesterfield, the venue has shut its doors with immediate effect. According to the company, the site will remain closed for the foreseeable future following a surprise announcement made by the pub's management team.
The news broke via a statement posted to the pub's official Facebook page. The post explained that the decision came down to unexpected developments, reading: "Due to unforeseen circumstances Stonegate have decided we will be closed effective immediately for the foreseeable future. We are truly sorry and would like to thank all our customers for their continued support. We hope to have this issue rectified as soon as possible."
Locally, The Hyde Park has built a strong reputation over the years for its food offering, as well as its community involvement through sponsoring and supporting a local junior football team.
The abrupt shutdown in Dronfield directly follows another closure announced by Stonegate earlier the same day. The company also confirmed the closure of The Earl Marshal, situated on East Bank Road in Sheffield.
