Welcoming, friendly pub. Great choice of cask and keg beers. Highly recommended.

  • Howard Hickson

As a drinker for some time we tried a meal, very disappointing, found the food less than mediocre & not sure we could recommend it. Service could have been better, don't think we will be doing it again.

Sheffield FC, great food, great beer. What's not to like?

News for Coach & Horses:

  • Real ale drinkers in Sheffield and North East Derbyshire have voted the Coach & Horses in Dronfield as the winner of their April Pub of the Month award. These awards are designed to highlight pubs that are 'local heroes' serving good beer in a welcoming atmosphere day in day out.

The Coach & Horses, which is attached to Sheffield FC's Bright Finance Stadium, was bought by the club in 2006 and refurbished to a high standard with a contemporary style. The pub is supported by Thornbridge Brewery, who supply the range of five real ales, and the pub effectively acts as the brewery tap. A very pleasant, relaxed afternoon can be spent on the sofas here with a pint of Thornbridge's Jaipur IPA and a quality newspaper!

The pub also has a reputation for its food, which is high quality and popular - some evenings the pub is fully booked for dinner service.

Banners outside the pub promise good beer, good food and good times. Catherine, the very friendly and likeable New Zealand girl who runs the pub, with her partner Kelly (who also brews beer at Thornbridge Brewery) and her team of staff, ensure this promise is kept!

This award comes in a year when Sheffield FC, the oldest football club in the world, is celebrating its 150th anniversary. The pub of the month certificate will be presented at an event in the pub on the evening of Tuesday 8th April, all are welcome to come along, join the celebrations, watch the presentation and enjoy a few quality pints!

The Coach & Horses can be found on Sheffield Road in Dronfield, close to the junction with Wreakes Lane, and has a car park. Buses 43,44 and 89 stop outside the pub.
