Previously called The Fountain, after the nearby Fountain Precinct, The Bessemer reopened with a new name in late 2009 after an extensive refit.
The Bessemer is named after Henry Bessemer, who was an inventor and became an integral figure in Sheffield's steel industry after moving to the city in 1858.

Bessemer is a warm and welcoming pub located in the city centre of Sheffield, close to the hustle and bustle of Fargate and the High Street.
Bessemer has a large main bar with many cosy and comfortable areas to sit in. It also has a mezzanine floor with its own bar for private functions. Bessemer can accommodate all sizes of bookings.
