We booked this pub for a 60th birthday party. Paid in full and were told kids were welcome as long as they didn't run about etc...
24 hours before we were informed that they had double booked. After waiting for hours about what they were going to do about it we got told that we could have upstairs room instead of downstairs, but kids could only go till 8PM. We had our DJ go down to see where they could set up etc... where they wrote in the bookings a while before the party so now have had to cancel the DJ and find another venue.
I am really disgusted that they could do this and I would strongly advise anyone against booking a party with these, as we booked months before and was let down just hours before. An inconvenience for loads of people and it's disgusting.
Do not got to this bar if you are not a regular! I got thrown out of this bar for apparently spilling someone's drink. I didn't spill this lady's drink and if I had I would have gladly bought her another. I'm 36 years old and she was effing and calling me all the names under the sun. The bouncer was not interested in my side of the story and chucked me out like a criminal. Needless to say I won't be spending money there again and would advise that no one else does either!
Been going in the pub at least twice a month since it first opened, but the last two or three times we've been in the food has been really poor.
My husband usually has the mixed grill and the meat is sometime under cooked. I usually have the lamb shank, which has being going downhill these last few weeks, but this evening took the biscuit. I ordered my usual lamb shank with vegetables and mashed potatoes, but when it came it was swimming in gravy, no veg, and I think that was the reason for all the gravy - to cover up that there was no veg.
And the meal made me feel very sick and I couldn't eat it. This was the first time I have ever complained to the waitress and asked to let the manager know but nobody came over to apologise to me.
Haven't been for a while. Last time I went they had karaoke with Rosco and he played a lot of mixture music from the 60s to the 80s Motown. It was brilliant, just had a sore head the day after. Loved it. Would definitely be going again.
One of my favourite pubs when visiting Sheffield. Brilliant atmosphere, good selection of ales, friendly staff and locals. Fantastic to sit round the fire in winter with a porter or stout. Long may it remain so!
Visited for the first time in a year, Friday evening and one-hour wait. Don't mind waiting but most of our group wanted the variety so we all had it rather than wait.
The server himself was wearing a scruffy kitchen overall top, which put me about, but he was using utensils so we carried on.
The meat was delicious and cooked to perfection. However, it is the first time I have had cooked vegetables and the only thing that spoiled it was they were cold.
Majority of the staff bar/waiting were pleasant but the person who you set us was Cassie. Don't know what position she holds but it is not professional to talk about the kitchen staff and not at all friendly, but it will be another year before we go again.
