Party-goers can hit the town and sip on a choice of drinks, dancing the night away at a bar situated in a 19th-century building
I should have known better. Before entering the Hare & Hounds pub at Dore the smell of ancient frying oil wafting over the car park should have warned me about the horrors served up inside.
Eight rock hard bullets with 'something' lurking inside and 'curly chips'. Straight from the freezer. I never learn. Keep hoping that Brits will learn about food!
I think it was the vilest meal I have ever been served in any pub anywhere.
- Jan Hill,
Bessemer is a warm and welcoming pub located in the city centre of Sheffield, close to the hustle and bustle of Fargate and the High Street.
Bessemer has a large main bar with many cosy and comfortable areas to sit in. It also has a mezzanine floor with its own bar for private functions. Bessemer can accommodate all sizes of bookings.
Relax in one of our comfortable sofas or secluded booths, or enjoy the party atmosphere coming into the weekend with a range of drinks offers.
The function area is the perfect place to hold a party, with the mezzanine floor offering its own private bar and toilets. This private function space can host from 20 - 70 guests and aims to provide exceptional service and a fantastic party atmosphere.
Bessemer also provides excellent value for money with an extensive menu and tailor made buffet packages. This can be the perfect area to reserve for a get together with friends, a family occasion and we also specialise in corporate entertainment.
There is always a warm welcome for all customers at Bessemer. We have a number of areas that are available for private hire. Whether you are celebrating a birthday or you need a venue for your office party, we have the place to party for you.
After work parties are very popular at this venue, which offers the perfect atmosphere.
- Ashley wallace,
It certainly is one of Sheffield's hidden gems - perhaps the fact that it is hidden away is the main reason it never gets top billing?
Excellent and informative staff, mushroom heaters in the outside drinking area, huge range of top beers and continental lagers at more than reasonable prices and an eclectic crowd of well seasoned drinkers makes this the beer appreciator's Mecca.
- Chris Shiel,
Went in Saturday lunchtime before Leicester City's game at Hillsborough. Decent beer, good food and it's not expensive. All in all not a bad pub. (It was better than the football, which we lost.)
- Keith Foulkes,
Visited recently, having booked a table in the restaurant.
I chose a mixed grill. Unfortunately it was served on a cold plate and apart from the chips, egg and onion rings, all the meats and black pudding were lukewarm. A shame because the presentation was good.
Will certainly return but will request that food and plate are hot.
- Tom Aitchison,
The Howard is a welcoming hostelry with a very modern edge. It is frequented by an eclectic mix of custom from students, businessmen, and passers by on the way to the railway station along with those who want a comfortable stop off for just a pint or two or an entertaining night out.
The 1st Wednesday of the month is dedicated to Unsigned Live Band night and is promoted by the band Riotbox for local up-and-coming bands to perform and play.
This is an excellent nights entertainment and worth supporting.
- Carole Noble,
I hadn't been in this pub for quite a few years and was very pleasantly surprised when we visited it again the other week. It's very nice inside and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend it.
- Deborah Cahill,
Had a lovely meal here last Sunday, 6th February, in honour of a friend's birthday.
The atmosphere in the function room was lovely. We all thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, lovely food, lovely staff and a big thank you to everyone!
P.S. They do have a function room here and please ignore any reviews prior to 2008, as the management has changed.
- Marilyn Shipley,
The Richmond Hotel is now under new management with entertainment at weekends.
Friendly people and children are allowed 'til 8PM as long as they're with an adult!
This pub has a happy hour on beers Monday to Thursday 12PM to 7PM - £2 a pint, which includes John Smith's, Boddingtons, Fosters, Magnet. Well worth a try...
- Carly Richardson,
Very good, enjoyed my chip butty after the football match.
A good atmosphere would visit again.
- Sophie,
