Visited this pub on a Saturday night for a birthday meal. What can I say! Shocking food and service!
We were moved from the conservatory due to over-booking and made to sit in the lounge area of the pub, having pushed the tables together ourselves. Food was ordered and then 20 minutes later they came to say that they did not have enough fish.
My 5-year-old daughter ordered fish fingers. I have never come across a pub that doesn't know how to cook them. They arrived battered. Do they not know what breadcrumbs are? The food was not brilliant. Scampi was a plate full of chips and salad with a greasy homemade tartare sauce.
All we received was a free bottle of wine. I would never go back to this pub again.
Went in for a drink and Sunday lunch, there were 10 of us out for a double birthday.
The drinks were very reasonably priced and the place very clean and tidy.
The only downside was that because of the size of our party we had to wait for over an hour. But when we did get to our tables the food was really nice, all very freshly cooked with extras if you wanted it.
I would fully recommend this place for a carvery anytime. And unlike my local the staff were all to willing to help and give service with a smile.
This pub is owned by the Sizzling Pubs chain. I dined there recently and was impressed by their quality and range of meals. When it first opened they only generally offered one real ale, if at all, but on my recent visit three real ales were on offer.
A welcome addition for south-east Sheffield, where most other pubs are keg only or at best do no more than pay lip service to real ale.
Have used the Crown & Cushion twice while visiting our family. We make it a must when visiting - it is the best food we have tasted in a long time.
We were there on our anniversary 17th September 2009 and had the best night. I had steak and jacket potato, my husband had the battered fish and chips, which was of the best quality and us Scots love a fish supper! My aunt and cousin had the salmon with hollandaise sauce and that was to die for. The steak pie beat my uncle, as it was big enough to feed Desperate Dan, and again it was of the best quality. We will be back, hopefully in December, as we will need a good feed by then.
