Stumbled across this little gem. 4 real ales on. Proper decent pub. Well worth a visit.
- Paul,
Do not go in this pub. You get cowards who punch you from behind in the back of the head and bouncers who are that scared of the person who has done it that they let it carry on. Happened to me yesterday and I am going all the way to make sure the bouncers are struck off. CCTV will prove this.
- Darren Brookfield,
This was the most unprofessional restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of eating in. The chef is the boss and the daughter is in charge at the bar. They are both very rude and have no customer skills at all. If I was you I'd make a different choice.
- Tony Winter,
Had a 60th party here this weekend, was fantastic. Staff all really helpful and friendly. Decor was lovely and we were really looked after. Let us arrange our own food and provided a great DJ for the occasion, too. Thank you so much we had a great time.
- Lisa Redfern,
Lovely people, beautiful food, nice company.
- Elizabeth Hattersley,
A lovely little pub serving fine wines and local real beers. Warm and welcoming staff. No TV - just an old fashioned pub. Good bar meals. No trouble parking but no car park.
- Barry Johnson,
Myself and 2 family members have been going into this public house for quite a while for Sunday lunch and enjoyed it until the 17th December 2013. We went for Christmas dinner. It was very poor portions, very small to say we had ordered big meals. Sweets were morsels. So we thought the chef was having an off day and went back the Sunday after - the 22nd December 2013.
The food was utterly disgusting, the only good thing was the beef. Yorkshire pudding and all the vegetables were rock hard, gravy was full of greasy fat. The only thing was the young lady serving behind the bar who was very efficient and helpful and a very hard working lady.
We will not be going back. Who did cooking gave us the impression their heart wasn't in it. Won't be back.
- Kevin Haywood,
Rubbish pub, horrible food. The pub was just full of drunks and people smoking weed.
- Karen Taylor,
Excellent local pub. Best pint of beer in Woodhouse, great jam night on Thursdays with a free buffet, good bands at regular intervals and food is excellent and not expensive.
- Jim Hopkinson,
Do not eat here. We booked a month in advance to have our annual Christmas lunch after a morning walk. We queued at the bar to be served by the only barman.
We had booked for between 1PM and 1:30PM. The last of us got their main course at 3:40PM. They had fish and chips, or rather fish and batter. They complained.
My steak tasted as though it had been tenderised and cooked the night before. It was served with cold chips and frozen onion rings. Nothing else. It cost £10. It was advertised as rump steak served with seasonal vegetables.
Those of us having turkey were lucky. They got served first. The vegetables were cold and the turkey was dry and crumbly.
The vegetables ran out before the salmon meals were served and it was cold.
We complained. The landlady would not reduce the cost of these poor meals. She made the excuse that they were under new management, that it was her first week and the that the chef was new. Someone with no apology was given and there was no offer of compensation. We asked for an address to write to but the landlady was unable to provide a true one.
We reluctantly paid and left without our puddings. It was by then nearly tea time anyway.
What a disappointing and dire experience. Poor service, bad, cold and expensive food.
