This pub is a disgrace to Greene King. I've been today with my family to have something to eat, this was at 3 o'clock. We ordered our food at 3:10 and got told an half hour wait. That's OK but at 4 o'clock we were still waiting. That's shocking.
My partner went to ask what was going on with the food and he got abuse from the landlady and landlord plus the staff. At 4:25 no food, no explanation, nothing. We asked for a refund. Insults again. That's not on. A couple of people had left previously because of the staff attitudes. The attitude we got was shocking. It's like me an my family didn't matter.
I hope the people who own Greene King read this and realise what people they have running and working for them. I hope they get in touch with me to explain their actions in treating me and my family like that.
This little pub in Burncross, Sheffield, has all the makings of success. It's quaint, it's surrounded by two housing estates, and it's at the end of a country walk/park too, which makes it very rural and quiet. It well-maintained and very comfortable inside.
So what's the problem? I called in last week on the way home from work for a quick drink and found the place half full of what one might only describe as a bunch of foul-mouthed yobs, except they were middle aged and a mixture of ages from 25-60, all using f*ck, b*stard, t*at, you could think of. If this is the way this pub runs, I will simply take my family elsewhere, as this attitude should be stopped by the staff. In this instance, she was the instigator and encourager of such foul behaviour.
I would say I'm no prude, but a time and place for every occasion, and one might question what the occasion was and what the heck is there language like at home.
We visited the pub on the Sunday during the Sheffield folk festival.
The pub was full and the atmosphere was good, but the bar staff seemed be fed-up of being busy, and couldn't force a smile.
The main reason for my review was the toilets. The stench was overpowering, and that alone made our decision not to eat or stay for another drink. We had been to another two pubs involved in the festival and made our way to the Shakespeare to enjoy the beer garden, as it was a nice day.
It's a long time since we were in this pub, but I suggest the new owners really make this an urgent problem that should be addressed.
I was really happy, keen and enthusiastic that at last a local couple/family were going to give the time and effort to the village pub. I have used it for meals a little more often over the time the new licensees have been in and, to be fair, the standard of the breakfast has gradually improved, in particular the hash browns, which are no longer soggy, but crisp.
I rarely write feedback but admit that on this Sunday morning I am really, really hacked-off with my experience. I went in at 10:15 to order a breakfast exactly as I did last Sunday, as it is convenient and close by. I was then told by the exceptional member of staff (a lady who has worked there pre new licensees, she is hyper professional and needs recognition) that breakfast was not being done today, owing to the amount of bookings for Sunday lunch. Great customer service - not!
There was a young lad in chefs whites cleaning up. Perhaps this is acceptable cleaning uniform and not for cooking in at all?
A few things spring to mind:
1) Don't advertise the service if you aren't providing it
2) Don't let customers down
3) Value every potential sale
4) Be consistent
Also this is not personal but professional. Really saddened.
I recently visit this pub but please, please will the brewery get the landlord out. He has no care of his customers and is just waiting to get out. He can often be see sleeping in the corner, and when you ask to be served it's the biggest job in the world.
