Plans put forward by the Ruby Lounge to open its downstairs club, Cellar 35, all night until 8AM at weekends have been opposed by local residents.
Owners of the Ruby Lounge applied to serve drinks and play music until 8AM on Saturday and Sunday mornings, as well as open until 4AM on Monday and 3:30AM Tuesday - Friday mornings. However, residents of nearby Cambridge Court flats have objected to the plans, claiming that they already suffer noise and other disturbances from drinkers in the area and longer opening hours will make matters worse. Several residents at the housing association flats have signed a petition against the application, which is due to be decided by Sheffield City Council on Tuesday 6th May.
The Moon pub at Upperthorpe, owned by Abbeydale Brewery, ceased trading on 27th April. We will update their profile page with further details if and when the pub reopens.
Plans are afoot to clean up notorious city-centre pub the Hen & Chickens. Carl and Tracy have big plans for the Hen & Chickens, including music, food cooked with ingredients from Castle Market, and a £500,000 refit and extension.
