Pub News from March 2006

If you know of any pub or Sheffield-related news that we have missed out, please contact us so that we can add the story.

We have now got complete details for the Harley Hotel pub in Sheffield city centre.

We have now got complete details for the Norfolk Arms pub in Ringinglow Village.

The pub previously called the Fitzooth & Firkin in Broomhill is now called the Nottingham House.

The pub previously known to many as the Hogshead in Orchard Square is now called the Museum.

Ricochet, makers of No Going Back, Supernanny and Risking it All, are looking for a SUPERLANDLORD or LADY to reverse the fortunes of Britain's worst run pubs. Everybody knows of a pub that should be the sort of place where everybody knows your name, but instead is the sort of place everybody avoids. The tragedy about these places is they should be cosy places to sit and sink a few well-kept pints in an atmosphere of relaxation. They should be places of community, of friendship, and of really good trivia quizzes. Sadly what they are is sticky floored, dirty, unwelcoming places filled with grumpy bar-staff, cloudy ale and wonky pool tables. These places need to be reclaimed and restored to their former drinking glory. They need to be spruced up, re-branded, re-staffed and re-launched on the local drinking population, and there's only one person who can do it. SUPERLANDLORD must be a highly skilled, no nonsense individual, confident in all aspects of setting up and managing pubs, who is ready to take on Britain's worst boozers and the useless staff that run them. If you think you've got what it takes, if you've got PUB stamped through you like a stick of rock, then call Sophie Chandler or Jo Thornhill on 01273 224800.
