The Royal Oak has now been cleaned up franticly. The warm fires light up the room when you walk in. The ambiance is lovely, the welcome is very friendly and the staff cannot do enough for you.

The Royal Oak is back on track, get down and check it out.

Food is also being served.

I used to go to the Royal Oak many years ago when I lived in the Rotherham area and went back for a meal last Sunday (13th November 2011) as part of a group of seven.

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the evening. The food was very good, the portions generous, the prices outstandingly good value, the beer great and the service attentive without being fawning.

Strongly recommended - go before everyone in the area realises just how good it is.

Went in one Friday lunch for a drink & lunch with adult family. On approaching the bar the landlord walked off and his assistant had a face like thunder with no "hello/yes please" and a grunt for a thanks. We were then told, with menus in hand, "we don't do food on Friday lunch".

Really poor service we won't be going there again. It used to be a great pub. My advice is stay away, it's what they deserve.
