This is the best pub in Sheffield. Great pint, great landlord and bar staff and the people who go in there are the best people in the world.
The atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly and there is never any trouble. As a girl I can go in there on my own and would feel safe and welcomed. Everyone should try it.

Look out for Carnival Day July 9th. We're hoping for as good a turn out as last year.

We have visited the Castle on many occasions, the food is great we have never had a bad meal. The staff are very friendly, especially the manager. Well worth a visit.

Hi all the customers at the Crown & Glove. The C&G has now got the best beer in the village, so customers say. Forget about all the jealous types who would like it for their own. The landlord is not always drunk but is trying to buy it as a free house. Watch this space.

I have recently visited the Crown & Glove at Stannington for the first time in a number of years and was totally shocked by the change to this once lovely pub.
As you walk in you are immediately confronted by the smell of the pub's dogs, followed by the dogs themselves. The landlord was totally drunk and using very offensive language. I talked to one or two of the locals about this and apparently it is a common occurrence. Also one of the dogs urinated on the seating.
It is such a shame this once lovely pub has descended to this level. I for one will not be returning until the present landlord has departed!

Shocking service. Bar maids that don't know price of a glass of wine, didn't know how to open a new bottle of wine - she gave to a customer to open - TRUE. Also didn't have a large glass for wine - wanted serve two small glasses. Never again - embarrassing.

If it's just a drink you want, give this pub a miss. I was in Sheffield from Monday April 4th to the 7th and I did seven pubs in the Good Beer Guide, mostly at lunch time and some again in the evening.
No problem in getting served except in here (about 1:25PM). Nobody behind the bar, some young woman rushing around with food orders, saying to me "I'll be with you in a minute." I didn't wait, went to the Old House instead.
It was busy but I was served straight away. If the owners or whoever can't manage things better they don't deserve to be in the Good Beer Guide. The bar should all ways be attended to. Better buck themselves up for the members weekend!

The Midland is now a great place to be - relaxed community pub, with great beer garden, great live music weekly, fantastic fresh-cooked Sunday lunches and big screen sport.
Great destination at the end of your visit to Rother Valley Country Park, Cuckoo Walk ramble, or the Chesterfield to Killamarsh cycle track.

This is a friendly pub with live entertainment every weekend, kids are made welcome but have to leave by 6PM.
There are seating areas outside for smokers. The landlord is polite and welcoming and the staff are friendly and ameanable .It is a well kept and clean establishment.
The beer and lager are cold and refreshing, as are the bottles that are available.

Went for lunch with friends and thought it was absolutely appalling. Kept hearing some Scottish guy shouting abuse at the chefs, which was very upsetting. And to top it all the food was terrible. Will never go back.
