Don't know who wrote the last review but they must be on a different planet.
There is a good selection of beer, including a selection of real ales, which the landlord keeps in top quality and prices are the same as neighbouring pubs.
The food is also good quality, homely and plentiful. If you want posh you can go to Aston Hall. We eat there regularly and all the selections are tasty and provide good value for money.
The layout of the pub provides a kiddies room with games and a pool table, upstairs from that is a large display TV. In the main bar there are three areas, each with their own atmosphere. There's the main bar area for those who like to stand, a lounge area with plenty of seating and a third room which provides a quiet area.
The decor is typical for a village pub and the atmosphere is friendly, you'll find people of all ages in there, which I think is always a good sign. Overall a good pub to visit!
Just tried this pub out for the first time it has got some great bargains on for lager and beer but that's where the good things end. The landlord is very ignorant and seems as if he doesn't want to be there, the pub is so cold and not very clean, which is a shame because it is typical old-style pub, which with a bit of care could be a fantastic place to go for a drink.
Had another great meal at this pub - never been disappointed - they keep changing the menu every couple of months so you always have a varied choice. It gets very busy especially on Sundays so you may have to wait a short while for a table but its definitely worthwhile.
Went to the Old Horns after a group walk on Sunday 28th December 2008. Had an absolutely excellent lunch and very good value as well. Service couldn't be bettered.
Even though it was a busy time and there were about 10 of us, the serving staff found and reserved for us three adjacent tables in the bay window (lovely views) and brought our food reasonably promptly.
A good feature of the Old Horns is that it serves food until 7pm on Sundays - whereas many local pubs tend to finish serving at around 3PM or earlier (nice to have a meal or snack when you've had a walk).
Didn't try the beer as don't drink at lunchtimes for fear of falling asleep - but it's been OK in the past.
The landlord criticised in an earlier review has clearly either left or mended his ways!
