 Had a great meal here last week.
Tried the belly pork from the specials board and it was fantastic.
My friend tried out the ostrich and he enjoyed that - he's a bit more adventurous than me!
Will certainly recommend it to my mates.
They have a good choice of real ales to satisfy us blokes - get the wife to drive so you can try out a few!

The service was first class and the food was exquisite.
Tom ordered the mixed grill and it was fantastic, for £13 it was a bargain. I literally had half a field on my plate.
Jack had steak and chips and thought it was incredible.
We will give the evening 7/10.

The Horse & Jockey is now under new management and has been refurbished. It has a whole new look and is back to the warm and cosy local pub it used to be, with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
This Saturday the 10th January 2009 there will be live music and each Saturday from then on will either be live music or a disco.
Starting Wednesday the 14th January 2009 they will be having a super quiz with open the box and prizes to be won, every Wednesday.
There will be a can-u-jam night every Thursday starting from the 15th January 09, so if you are a musician or singer and fancy a jam come and try it out.
They are also having a Sunday quiz with raffle every Sunday starting from the 18th January 2009.
So come and try it out for yourself even if only to have a drink and a nosy round all are welcome!

Went to the Old Horns after a group walk on Sunday 28th December 2008. Had an absolutely excellent lunch and very good value as well. Service couldn't be bettered.
Even though it was a busy time and there were about 10 of us, the serving staff found and reserved for us three adjacent tables in the bay window (lovely views) and brought our food reasonably promptly.
A good feature of the Old Horns is that it serves food until 7pm on Sundays - whereas many local pubs tend to finish serving at around 3PM or earlier (nice to have a meal or snack when you've had a walk).
Didn't try the beer as don't drink at lunchtimes for fear of falling asleep - but it's been OK in the past.
The landlord criticised in an earlier review has clearly either left or mended his ways!

An excellent pub with great beer! And the friendliest people I have ever had the good fortune of meeting. Looking forward to having a pint there again very soon.

What a great pub. Good staff and the landlord is a fantastic guy. What a great welcome you get. We now go every weekend even got our Christmas tickets. Many thanks.

The Carlton has a friendly atmosphere and has a lovely interior. It always has a warm welcome and seems to have a wide range of very good ales. The pub is now open all day on Sunday.

An amazing little pub just on the outskirts of town. The staff were friendly and the food was great.

There is always a warm, unpretentious welcome at this quiet pub.
The food is traditional, most of it cooked on the premises from fresh ingredients.
Although the main beers are keg bitter and lager, they keep selection of really good bottled beers from the local brewery.
Deserves to be better known!
