 Great pub, crackin' staff. The food is beautifully homemade, what more could you ask for?
As the daughter of the manager I think that's all just out of order. If we don't come in time to your table or take your order we are very sorry, but most of the time it's just the people being picky and taking their time when there are other people to be served. When there is a big party that's the worst out of all.
The food is done cooked right and if not [it's] because you didn't ask for that way for it to be cooked. In my right I think that's all wrong. Let people come to the pub and see what they think, not what other people think of my pub.

I live very close to this pub and am sick to death of the constant barrage of bad language from the scum that sit round the back smoking dope (which I can smell from my home) and using foul language as though it's the norm and every one wants to hear it.
I have no problem with folk sitting out and having a drink and a laugh - I like to do this myself in the summer - but when a 6-year-old asks what f***ing means because those people are saying it all the time it's not on.
The landlord should do something about this and ask them to refrain from doing it or to get back into the hole they have crawled out of. This is a nice pub and it's getting a bad name through all that goes on, mainly round the back.
I had my 4-year-old grandson on Thursday and we were gardening when a grown man shouted to some other lout at the top of his voice "Get back to your f***ing wife you bastard" and a few other choice words. My little grandson was scared because it was so offensive and violent, so it's time something was done, as I'm not the only resident to complain.

I was interested to see the Harlequin voted as pub of the week.
Since the Brew Co took charge the Harlequin isn't quite the excellent pub it used to be.
Gone are Happy Mondays (pints £1.50 and £2). Acorn Barnsley Bitter has been replaced by the Brew Co's Harlequin Bitter (not bad but not as nice as Acorn and the 10p per pint price increase didn't help), but the real deterioration is in the range and price of food. Only a couple of hot choices (gone are the excellent £3 meals) and sandwiches piled on the bar with a 50p price increase.
Still a good pub. Nice atmosphere. Good beer range. But visits leave me feeling a bit cheated when I remember how it used to be.

My friend and I went for a carvery and it was nearly cold. The staff were all friendly. It's a pub that you can have a good talk in, and you can hear yourself think
I would go again but have something off the menu instead, as then it might come.

Great beer, shame about the welcome. Staff unfriendly and landlord intolerant of children even in the "garden". "Seen and not heard" would appear to be his attitude. I won't be visiting again.

Nothing about this pub is "family friendly". They simply do not like children being in this pub, there are no high chairs available, no kids' drinks, no children's menu and they have to order a meal even if everyone else in the party is eating!
The staff are all so rude too, instead of just asking politely. Being a manger at a pub myself I would never let my staff be so rude to the customers and chatting behind the bar instead of serving.
Even though I live on the same road as this pub I will never go in again, with or without my child and I advise other people to steer well clear too!

Excellent traditional little pub with real ales and a friendly atmosphere. What can I say? A real hidden little gem. Well worth a visit even if you are not into the real ales. Lovely beer garden, too.

After hearing rave reviews about the Cricket Inn me and my partner decided to take out my in laws from Australia to sample the delights. Never again!
We phoned on a Monday to book a table for the Friday and we were told we didn't have to book. When we arrived it was busy, with a wait on food. When we asked the young man how long he said 20 minutes maximum! An hour and a half later we were finally taken through to a quaint dining area were we waited another twenty minutes for our order to be taken.
The food came out pretty quickly but unfortunately went back to the kitchen pretty quickly, too. The pie was cold in the middle and our steak was like shoe leather - it was supposed to be rare.
The whole day was a disaster, and yet no one seemed to be bothered or pay us any interest at all. We have been once more for lunch after our disappointing night and it was just as bad. Never again. Needs a whole new shake up.

Decent pub with a large beer garden at the rear that is usually full of customers' kids on a sunny warm day. We usually detour and decamp after taking the hound for a walk and he loves the Sharps Doom Bar (as do I). There is a pool table, no music (hooray) and a nice lounge. There are also usually a couple of guest ales on.
