This place is beer pornography. Loads of Thornbridge beers, hundreds of imported goodies, lush decor. What's not to like?

Being desperate to find suitable accommodation that is not too expensive, I was unfortunate to stay in the Old Crown Inn B&B (sleeps). I would advise others to avoid. The reasons are these:
1. The bed was not re made every day, with clean sheets or pillow cases. I had to sleep on the same sheets for 4 days.
2. No breakfast was available!
3. Shower and sink not cleaned all the time I was there, at least there was hot water. Did not dare use shower as I was dirty.
4. The Crown Inn is on a main road constant noise for traffic outside. Was woken up many times from 4 in the morning on wards.
5. The other guests very noisy, woke me up at 6AM for 3 days.
6. Forced to stay, as I wanted to cancel my first booking, due to a situation beyond my control, they refused, claiming the would have to charge me the full amount for the time I would have stayed, thus forcing me to re-book with them at a later date and force me to stay there. After hearing, I checked out their terms and conditions. It stated that they could only charge someone if they were unable to find someone else to have the room and not simply because someone cancels their booking.
7. Paid up front even though had not used the room.

A proper old fashioned pub. Only two real ales on, but worth a visit if you are nostalgic.

I love this pub, it's great! I go in almost every Saturday night an never fail to enjoy myself. The landlady is fantastic and so are all the other bar staff. Keep up the good work!

A fantastic pub with an excellent atmosphere, relaxed and upbeat. Ever-changing ranges of ales, interesting and engaging menu ideas. A pub with a heart still beating inside.

I visited the Moorlands on a Monday evening with family and relatives that were visiting from abroad.
For a pub that seems to be virtually in the middle of nowhere it was certainly busy. The carvery had come recommended but for £3.59 we weren't sure what to expect. We needn't have been worried.
Everyone agreed that the food was lovely and each of the 3 meats (beef, gammon and turkey) were delicious. On top of that drinks were reasonably priced, too. A very nice pint of hand-pulled ale was £1.75
All in all a great pub. It's just a shame it's not nearer!

We went to Dam House for Sunday lunch.
First impressions were spoilt by the smell of floor cleaner in the bar area. The staff also seemed slightly overwhelmed by a large wedding party which took up most of the bar and the restaurant on one side of the bar.
We had pre-lunch drinks on the patio at the back, which is a lovely setting. When we asked about our 2PM table we were initially told they were not serving food until 3PM due to the wedding party. When we reiterated that we had a booking we were told we would be dining at the other end of the bar in a separate area. This area was light and spacious with a good view of the park.
Service during the meal was somewhat slow and the staff needed prompting for glasses (sent back twice as dirty), butter, condiments etc... The wine we chose off the limited wine list was not available. However the substitute we chose was very good. The quality of the Sunday roast was also very good. The kitchen seems to be the most competent part of the operation.
We asked for dessert menus, but after 30 minutes we gave up on waiting and went to the bar to pay. We were then told the card machine was not working so we couldn't pay. One of our party was offered a lift to the nearest cash machine and we paid in cash. For the inconvenience the manager gave us £25 off the bill and a free bottle of wine.
All in all an experience spoiled by poor service and management front of house. I appreciate they had a large wedding party, but this is no excuse for poor service for non-wedding diners. However the quality of the food was very good and well priced.

After a friend recommended this pub to us after dining there we decided to give it a try also, and we were not disappointed.
We were all very impressed with the food, which was served quickly, despite the pub being quite busy.
A very warm, traditional pub with excellent home cooked food. The staff and management were very friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable when we had queries.
I was also pleasantly surprised to find that an offer was available at the time to receive a free main course as it was my birthday that day, which was an added bonus.
I'd definitely recommend this pub to anyone and we shall be returning in the near future.

Had a really great meal with a work colleague who was visiting from Bristol.
The presentation of the food was excellent, as was the taste and quality.
The staff were very attentive, friendly and obliging. Nothing was too much trouble.
I will definitely be returning.

Went last Thursday, quiz night. Had a cracking evening. The quiz was as good as it gets, really original, witty and involving the quizzers.
They've now got 6 superb real ales on, tried the Timmy Taylor's (gorgeous) and the Jaipur (smooth as silk).
Best thing is the friendly atmosphere, everyone with smiles on their faces.
Shall definitely make it there on a regular basis.
