We have added a new listing for The Wonky Labrador, formerly known as The Crafty One, at 212 Oakbrook Road in Ranmoor. Since taking the reins in January, owner Mac McGrath has not only revamped the physical space but has also curated an impressive selection of craft ales, organic wines, spirits, and cocktails. The micro bar exudes a welcoming atmosphere with its carefully chosen murals, courtesy of the talented Harriet Lucy Designs.
The drink menu reflects Mac's passion for quality beverages, boasting five rotating taps featuring local breweries such as Grizzly Grains, SMOD, and Abbeydale. In a nod to inclusivity, gluten-free beer options are also available, reflecting Mac's commitment to catering to diverse preferences, influenced by a recent coeliac diagnosis.
The Wonky Labrador isn't just about libations; it's a place where patrons can unwind and connect. Mac emphasises affordability, ensuring guests enjoy top-notch drinks without breaking the bank. The positive feedback has been overwhelming, reinforcing Mac's belief that he's found his calling.
The bar's distinctive name, The Wonky Labrador, pays homage to Mac's cherished childhood pet, a Labrador named Meg. Despite her harrowing past, Meg's endearing wonkiness epitomises love and affection. The vibrant sign, crafted by Megan Littlewood and painted by Molly Jones, proudly declares the establishment's identity.
Mac's personal journey, including struggles with mental health, has shaped The Wonky Labrador's ethos. A veteran in the hospitality industry, Mac aims to foster an inclusive space, hosting weekly mental health evenings every Monday, encouraging open conversations and breaking down barriers.
