Since being taken over by new management in December 2007 the George IV has become a favourite of real ale drinkers and is a welcome addition to the lower Don real ale trail.

Let me guess, the person who posted the last review was quite a snob. The George IV has a fun and friendly atmosphere, where everyone has felt welcome. Yes, some people are quite loud and boisterous, but that's what you get wherever you go and in any pub.

The pub caters for not only the real ale followers but also for young adults getting ready to go out and who enjoy having a good time. As far as I am concerned, the pub has undergone a major transformation from what it used to be a year ago, and the reputation it used to have.

The young couple who have taken it over have done a fantastic job and they don't deserve picky people putting the pub down. As far as Langsett Road goes the George IV is the only pub I feel welcome in!

Possibly the worst pub I have been in. The cheap drinks attract the worst type of drop out. Go to the Hillsborough Hotel 20 yards up the road and enjoy your night out.

This is the best pub in the area and has the cheapest drinks that side of Sheffield. I had a birthday in the upstairs of the George it was so cheap it cost me £190 with their DJ and he was very good. You can also pay £15 extra to get an extension which means you can drink to 12:00. They also have Play Your Cards Right and you can win £450 and it is still going up.

We have reclassified the George IV as being located in Hillsborough, as we are correcting the Langsett area.

The George IV reopened in December 2007 and now serves a range of real ales as well as the usual beers and lagers. A function room with private bar is also available for hire. The pub has a late license until 1AM on Fridays and Saturdays.
