The Garden Bar & Restaurant opened October 2005 after an extensive refurbishment. The Garden offers a wide variety of food from the bar menu during the day, and an extensive a la carte menu for the evening. The wine bar stocks a full range of the most popular beers and lager as well as other specialist brews like Hoegaarden.

Having recently heard about a change of management, myself and the missus went to pay a visit to the Garden. Having been to the pub when it was the Ash Tree, we were more than surprised to see the transformation. Under new management, the pub has undergone a serious refurbishment, transforming the pub from a run down boozer to a high-class bar and restaurant.

The decor is ultra modern and warm at the same time - sumptuous leather seating complemented with modern dark wood tables. The bar has been transformed into an array of speciality beers and classic wines. Well-presented staff compliment the image that the new owners are trying to achieve.

The food menu looks delightful and should not be confused with any old pub menu. A wide range of starters and main meals are available along with a Sunday specials board. Every Saturday since it has opened has been booked out, according to the manager who is always seen behind the bar.

A final comment is that the pub is Dronfield's first 100% smoke-free bar, which is a breath of fresh air in light of changing laws. I had to drive from Sheffield to see this place, and will be doing so often from now on.
