Red House Pub Reviews
Barbara Stevens - 01/09/2009
As a female over 45 the Red House is one pub I can go to and not feel out of place. In today's day and age it is still hard for women to go into a pub on her own. I have met up with an old school friend there. This is the friendliest pub I will ever go to and the staff are so friendly as well. It's like going home before my husband died. Carry on with the good work.

I was a little afraid that the Red House would have lost some of its unique atmosphere when it underwent its recent refurbishment. However, after visiting tonight to watch a gig, I have to say they have really improved on what was already a great place.
Really tasteful and warm decoration and the outside area with decking, tables and chairs, roofed and with heaters is the nicest smoking area I've seen in the city centre.
Well done guys.

This little pub has had a chequered history and was closed for 5 months before the current owners took it over, and they've done wonders with it. For anyone who used to go you should get back there and for those of you who haven't you should try it out.
They have live music nearly every night with some great bands playing on Tuesdays and Saturdays (I was told this may soon include Thursdays, too). They have an open stage on Wednesdays - which includes a full electronic drum kit, bass, keyboard and guitars (what more could you ask for?). On Sundays they have Jazz and folk music, Mondays they have a comedy show or DJ's (depending on which one in the month) and Fridays they have DJs... When I went they had funk scratch DJs playing with a bassist, an MC and a human beat box! There's something going on all the time at that place.
The food there is great too... They make home-made steak and ale pie with home chips and great veg - and it's good value!
I'd have to give this 10/10, it's got real character, the people who work there are friendly and welcoming, the food is good and the entertainment is free!
Red House Pub News

The Red House, Solly Street, has re-introduced a food operation and serves Tapas, Lite Bites and full meals from 12 noon until 9:30PM daily.
A recent major refurbishment included the building of a decked raised veranda to the rear as a smoking solution. The current owners, Jeff and Tracey, gave strict instructions that the overall character of the pub should be retained and these instructions have been followed expertly. The pub is still a very comfortable traditional alehouse with a contemporary edge.
In addition the pub still offers real ales, including local brew Easy Rider, and is still providing live entertainment, DJ's and an open stage night on Wednesdays. Red House is one of the few Sheffield pubs with a 5AM alcohol license, but it rarely stays open this late. Full details of opening, events and tickets can be found at www.myspace.com/redhousesheffield.

The Red House pub in Sheffield city centre has reopened again under new management. The pub has been in existence for over 100 years and the new owners are focussing on live music and hand-pulled ales.
