Sheffield Pub News - November 2007

City Bar in Sheffield city centre has closed for business. The bar, in an ideal location, appeared to be busy but the furnishings have now been removed and it lies empty.

The Pomona on Ecclesall Road reopened on Saturday 10th November under new management. The new tenants had this to say:

"Our plans for the pub are based around the fast and efficient service of quality products in an environment that everyone will feel comfortable. They also include the addition of live music to the entertainments roster as well as the reinstatement of Sky Sports. Food will also play an important part of our development although this is not imminent, as we have a lot of work to do to get this right."

We have removed the Royal Hotel, formerly of Abbeydale Road in Sharrow, from our database because it has been closed and converted into student flats.

The Hillsborough Hotel, University Arms and Devonshire Cat are holding a "Pub-tick-tram-sport Beer Festival" between the 8th-10th November.

The event should appeal especially to real ale drinkers, as there are 60 beer available between the three pubs. An added bonus is that all of the pubs are either on or near the Supertram route.

We have replaced Hush bar on Division Street in Sheffield city centre with Olive Bar & Restaurant. The new venue "offers a fresh contemporary surrounding and is blessed by one of the best heated garden areas in the city centre."
