
Sheffield Pub News - October 200616-10-2006The Springfield Tavern near Sheffield city centre has been ordered to install noise abatement equipment following complaints from nearby residents. Neighbours wrote to Sheffield City Council claiming that that the pub was causing a "public nuisance" and the licensing board carried out a licence review hearing, which was the first to be performed in Sheffield. Landlady Clare Sanders and partner Graham Amos who have been running the pub since early 2005 are planning to appeal to Sheffield Magistrates' Court. An 80-signature petition from regulars and neighbours in support of the pub was also presented to the licensing board. 14-10-2006The Red House pub in Sheffield city centre has reopened again under new management. The pub has been in existence for over 100 years and the new owners are focussing on live music and hand-pulled ales. 09-10-2006The pub formerly known as the Manchester Hotel on Nursery Street has reopened as the Harlequin.
