Sheffield Pub News - June 2006

We have updated the information for the Devonshire Arms pub in Dore. They now have a late license and have a larger range or beers and lagers on offer.

The Ash Tree pub in Dronfield has now been updated to the Garden Bar & Restaurant after its extensive refurbishment in October 2005.

It appears that Sharkeys Bar in Sheffield city centre has now closed down for good. The premises appear empty and signs in the window indicate that it will reopen under the name "Qube" in the near future. Watch this space!

The Deep End in Hillsborough is still boarded up but rumour has it that it is set to open as a Wetherspoon's in at some point.

With the FIFA World Cup upon us, many pubs in Sheffield will be showing the football action on large widescreen TVs. Apparently, many of these televisions will be set up incorrectly, producing a distorted picture. Vincent Lo was so fed up with pub TVs that haven't been set correctly for widescreen that he has launched a campaign to make sure pubs use widescreen TV properly during the World Cup. Lo said that incorrect widescreen settings can mean that up to one third of the transmitted picture is lost. This can mean that much of the action from the sides of the screen cannot be seen. The previous site of Revolution Vodka Bar on Mappin Street in the city centre has been filled by Bia Hoi and we have now added the bar to our database.

We have updated the address and contact details for Revolution Vodka Bar, which moved a short distance from Mappin Street to the West One complex in Sheffield city centre.
